noSWeat builds commercial support

noSWeat is to join forces with two commercial companies in a bid to provide even better training opportunities and support for its rapidly growing band of students and alumni.

Digital publishers VFolio and accountants Kingston Smith W1 will be offering noSWeaters the chance to steal a march on other trainees in terms of the latest developments in digital publishing and getting some of the best financial advice available.

The move comes as the centre recently celebrated its tenth birthday when a host of sponsors pitched in to make the occasion one to remember.

Journalists organization, the Chartered Institute of Journalists, digital publishers VFolio and West End accountants Kingston Smith lead the way with backing and donations worth thousands of pounds.

Following closely in their wake were the likes of The Westminster Bookshop and Riverside Florists which also donated cash and services boosting the total sponsorship package.

In addition there were raffle prizes donated by the likes of Fullers Brewery, The London Eye and The Spectator, The Financial Times and the National Magazine Company raising hundreds more.

noSWeaters will be able to try out some of the latest digital publishing solution when Virtual Portfolio (VFolio) brings its innovative technology to the college.

The London-based digital media and development specialist, which has developed the programme and recently released it to the digital publishing sector, will provide tuition in its use for trainees at noSWeat’s college in Clerkenwell, London.

VFolio managing director Allen Strong said: ´This is a commercial revenue generating solution using our unique language coding to create the applications. It will reduce costs, increase circulation, open new revenue streams, increase profits, preserve historical archives, and is both SEO and mobile device friendly.´

Stephen Ward, managing director at NoSWeat, which has been trialling the programme, said: ´We are especially pleased to have VFolio not only as a valued sponsor for our 10th anniversary celebrations but also providing a valuable extension to the tuition we provide for both our journalism and magazine course trainees.´

Mr Strong (pictured above with Steve Ward) added: ´With more than 600 European publishing houses running the Vfolio software for their digital newspaper and magazine distribution; a number of customized solutions have been delivered to meet publisher specific requirements. We have an international channel of clients that produce and distribute publications in digital as well as print. Our reach extends to the UK, USA, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, UAE and Lebanon.

´Less paper means less trees are destroyed, ecospheres remain intact and humanity retains more biodiversity, a legacy for our future. This is ´Carbon Efficient´ and environmentally sensitive, we don´t claim to be ´carbon neutral´ (as some do) simply because using electricity means you have a carbon footprint as a result of the use of fossil fuels.´
