Why choose noSWeat?
At noSWeat journalism training we believe that journalism is caught, not taught. We try to encourage an informal and friendly atmosphere with tutors available for help and advice at all times.
We also have a programme of guest speakers from the top of their profession to build and channel the already boundless enthusiasm of our selected students.
Students themselves are encouraged to mix and contact each other both within and outside the centre. With this combined approach we have achieved considerable success.
Above average exam results have led to some students finding jobs before the end of their course. Others, already in the industry, come to us for training needed for career advancement. We have planned this website to give visitors a taste of what we have to offer.
However, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us either by e-mail, phone or popping round for a chat. S.W

Stephen Ward, course director |
Stephen Ward, himself a journalist, was running a news and features agency as well as training aspiring journalists when asked by a prospective student if he would consider running a part-time weekend course for professional exams. The take up for this idea proved so overwhelming that Ward had to put the agency on the back burner to cope with demand. Now the centre has expanded to run a number of other courses including, full-time Prelims, freelance, sub-editing and writing for the web.
With its low student-teacher ratio and dedicated focus on preparing students to pass exams, noSWeat represents an excellent investment.
Some of the points which sets it apart from the other centres are:
- NCTJ certificates are recognised nationally and internationally
- focus on passing NCTJ exams
- teaching by journalists for journalists
- visiting professionals provide further insight and guidance
- small classes; individual attention
- full and part-time study
- modern training centre facilities
- current and former students can use centre's facilities out of office hours
- no loss of earnings (part-time courses)
As the only dedicated journalism training centre in central London approved by the NCTJ, London-based students do not have to pay expensive transport costs to get to and from provincial training centres.
Being a small centre the atmosphere is friendly and supportive. All students, irrespective of which type of course they are taking, are encouraged to mingle and interact with each other and share knowledge and contacts within the industry.
Past noSWeat students are finding jobs in local newspapers, magazines and working for web sites. Some students already work for national newspapers and broadcasters and are undertaking their formal training with us.
